Action 22
Action 22 is a volunteer-driven membership
organization of individuals, cities, communities,
counties, associations, businesses and organizations
in a 22-county region, banding together for a
stronger voice on statewide discussion tables, the
Colorado legislature and in Washington D.C. Action
22’s mission is to serve as a leader for cohesive
action to affect change and shape the future of
Southern Colorado.
American Institute of Architects, Colorado South
Chapter
The American Institute of Architects is the nation’s
largest organization representing members of the
architectural profession. The AIA is committed to
strengthening the value of the architectural
profession in the building industry and the
community as a whole. The AIA Colorado South covers
18 counties of south and southeastern Colorado.
Catamount Institute
The Catamount Institute mission is to inspire
ecological stewardship through education and
leadership. We are looking to a future where each of
us takes responsibility for preserving our natural
heritage, where business leaders engage in practices
that respect our natural resources and positively
affect the bottom line, and where our children and
families experience the wonder of the outdoors
firsthand while developing real-life skills that
will serve society as well as themselves.
City of
Colorado Springs
The City of Colorado Springs is pleased to be a
partner in Fort Carson's sustainability efforts. The
City participates in Fort Carson's Sustainable Land
Use Team, Sustainable Transportation Team, Pikes
Peak Sustainability Indicators Project, and numerous
other collaborative projects. The city was ranked
26th in the US by SustainLane's 2006 US large city
surveys. The City is committed to use of alternative
fuels, conservation and preserving a sustainable
quality of life, and recognizes the use of open
space to achieve more sustainable and
environmentally responsible patterns of growth.
City of Fountain, Utilities Department
America's Millennium City and a 2002 All-America
City, the City of Fountain hosts thousands of Fort
Carson Soldiers and civilians. Fort Carson works in
a closely integrated fashion with the City,
particularly its Economic Development Department and
Utilities operations. Fountain has been a strong
supporter of the Pikes Peak Sustainability
Indicators Project and other sustainability
projects.
Colorado Alliance of
Sustainable Business Associations
CASBA facilitates communication and increases
networking, collaboration and coordination among
sustainable business and professional associations
in Colorado. Representatives share innovative
business ideas, successes and effective tools;
cross-post announcements of
activities; and work together on common conservation
goals and campaigns. CASBA facilitates periodic
meetings, networking events, special projects and an
annual legislative briefing.

Association for Recycling (CAFR)
The CAFR is committed to advancing economic,
political and social conditions that minimize waste
and maximize resource reuse. We believe wise
resource use is vital to the health of people, the
environment and the economy.

Colorado College

Greater
Pueblo Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce is a
volunteer-driven organization that improves and
promotes an atmosphere that enables the community to
grow and prosper. The Pueblo Chamber works to
accomplish its purpose by serving as the voice of
the Pueblo business community and representing our
members in governmental affairs at local, state and
federal levels. The Pueblo Chamber also works to
help members be more profitable by offering a
variety of programs to meet members' concerns and
needs. Joining the Pueblo Chamber is really an

National Renewable
Energy Laboratory (NREL)
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is the
nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and
energy efficiency research and development. The
laboratory's scientists and researchers support
critical market objectives to accelerate research
from scientific innovations to market-viable
alternative energy solutions. NREL's Federal Energy
Management Program works closely with Fort Carson to
ensure continual progress towards sustainable energy
solutions.
Office of
the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Western
Regional Environmental Office
The Army’s Regional Environmental Office (REO) for
EPA Region 8 is now the Western Regional
Environmental Office of the Assistant Secretary of
the Army for Environment, Safety and Occupational
Health. The Army REOs work to increase transparency
and awareness of Army and DoD environmental issues
with regulatory agencies at federal, regional and
state levels, and legislative agencies at state and
county levels.
Pikes Peak Area
Council of Governments
Celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2007, the
Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments is a
non-profit organization that conducts economic,
environmental, transportation, military impact
planning; manages the Pikes Peak Regional
Transportation Authority, and hosts the Area Agency
on Aging. The PPACG has cooperated closely with Fort
Carson on the Fort Carson Regional Growth
Coordination Plan that covered El Paso, Fremont and
Pueblo Counties. . The PPACG also received US Army
support for its technical assistance to Pikes Peak
United Way on the 2007 El Paso Quality of Life
Indicators project.
Pikes Peak Sierra Club
The Pikes Peak Group of the Sierra Club is a
nonprofit, member-supported, public interest
organization that promotes conservation of the
natural environment by influencing public policy
decisions - legislative, administrative, legal and
electoral. Our mission is to explore, enjoy and
protect the wild places of the earth; to practice
and promote the responsible use of the earth's
ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist
humanity to protect and restore the quality of the
natural and human environment; and to use all lawful
means to carry out these objectives. The Pikes Peak
Group's geographic boundaries include all of El Paso
county, plus parts of Teller, Park and Elbert
counties.
Pueblo
2010 Commission
The Pueblo 2010 Commission serves as a community
voice to advise and influence public and private
sectors on issues of community concern. The 2010
Commission is a 30-member volunteer citizen's group
composed of eleven community at-large members, a
representative from each of our twelve task forces,
and a representative from each of eight local public
entities.
Smart Growth Advocates (Pueblo)
Smart Growth Advocates is a Colorado non-profit
corporation, formed in 2004 and based in Pueblo,
Colorado. We are a grass-roots organization and our
mission is to promote sustainability in Pueblo,
which in turn, will assure that Pueblo is a place
where its citizens enjoy the highest attainable
quality of life. We collaborate closely with many
local, state and national organizations, community
leaders and the government to enhance the quality of
life in Pueblo.
Society of American
Military Engineers
The mission of the Society of American Military
Engineers is to promote and facilitate engineering
support for national security by developing and
enhancing relationships and competencies among
uniformed services, public and private sector
engineers, and related professionals.
Southeast Colorado Renewable Energy Society (SECRES)
The SECRES is a chapter of CRES whose members come
from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and the southeastern
section of the state. The CRES is a nonprofit
membership organization that works for the sensible
adoption of cost-effective energy efficiency and
renewable energy technologies by Colorado businesses
and consumers. CRES holds regular educational events
throughout the state.
U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 8
The U.S. EPA's Region 8 office in Denver works to
protect human health and the environment in
Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah,
Wyoming and 27 sovereign tribal nations. They share
this challenging work with many partners – state,
local and tribal governments, businesses,
non-governmental organizations, communities and
individuals.
U.S. General
Services Administration (GSA)
The GSA’s mission is to "help federal agencies
better serve the public by offering, at best value,
superior workplaces, expert solutions, acquisition
services and management policies." The GSA consists
of the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), the Public
Buildings Service (PBS), and various Staff Offices,
including the Office of Congressional and
Intergovernmental Affairs (OCIA). Eleven Regional
Offices extend GSA’s outreach to federal customers
nationwide. Regional Offices are located in Boston,
New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas
City, Fort Worth, Denver, San Francisco, Auburn
(Washington), Washington, DC.
University of Colorado
at Colorado Springs
UCCS, under Ms. Shockley-Zalabak's leadership with
strong support from Sustainability Director Linda
Kogan, launched a comprehensive, multi-phase,
forward-looking campus sustainability program in
2006. The 2007 UCCS Sustainability Strategic Plan is
in accordance with the Association for the
Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education,
AASHE, - that supports college sustainability
programs in the US. The plan's components are
Leadership, Education, and Operations. The
Facilities' section includes energy and water
conservation, sustainable transportation, paper use,
recycling, and sustainable food. UCCS recently
signed the American College and University
Presidents Climate Commitment and will soon be
developing short and long term goals toward ghg
reductions and climate neutrality. UCCS also
recently launched a comprehensive recycling program
that has increased fourfold the amount being
diverted from landfills. On the community side,
UCCS's plan dedicates it to be a community leader
for sustainable growth of its own campus and
adjacent urban renewal projects, and helping
students adopt sustainability practices in their own
lives. UCCS has partnered with Fort Carson on
numerous scientific studies - ranging from studies
of rodent species to a more recent study on deer
habitat and interactions with military activities. |
